Our mission statement: Texas Harmony is a musical asset to its community, promoting harmony, friendship, self-esteem and the sense of belonging among women of all ages, races, ethnic background and levels of performance readiness. There are many opportunities within the organization for personal growth.
Texas Harmony, founded in 1968, is an award-winning a cappella women's chorus in the DFW area. We are affiliated with Sweet Adelines International, a women's musical organization made up of over 30,000 voices worldwide. Sweet Adelines International is an organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performances.
In 2009, Texas Harmony competed in Nashville, TN on the International stage, and achieved a bronze medal in Division A, small chorus category. In 2012, Texas Harmony won 1st place in Division AA mid-size chorus. In 2010, 2013 and 2014, Texas Harmony, earned 2nd place mid-size chorus and 3rd place overall chorus medals in regional competition. In 2009 and 2011, the chorus performed on the stage of Carnegie Hall in New York City, NY.
Some facts about Texas Harmony:
- Founded in 1968, Texas Harmony began as the Greater Dallas Chorus.
- The chorus strives for excellence. During rehearsal, members receive training in performance fundamentals, sight-singing, ear training and choreography.
- The opportunities for musical and administrative growth are endless. Chorus members come from all walks of life, but a common love of singing brings them all together each week.
